Following the really enjoyable seminar in June by Gailie Anderson founder of the professional theatre group Contexture, we have decided to put together a trip to see their play Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick on the afternoon of Thursday 12th October, 3pm at the Rhodes Theatre. There is a possibility of a Question and Answer session with the cast after the performance if enough of us are interested, so please let me know if you are.
According to Contexture, "This sharp and hilarious biographical comedy reveals that the filming of the Carry On series was a less than glamorous affair, characterised by leaking caravans, inadequate pay cheques and argumentative co-stars. Most of the play's action takes place on rain-soaked locations with a scantily-clad Barbara taking refuge in Sid's trailer while he and co-star Kenneth Williams carry on their notorious feud. While Barbara has to decide whether to dump her prison-bound husband and continue her affair with Sid, he helps Imogen to decide whether her Barbie figure will go down well at the RSC."
This promises to be an excellent, fun afternoon out. Tickets are £12 each, cheques payable to Stansted Mountfitchet U3A Social Account. As it is only in Bishop's Stortford, it seems that car share (or bus if you wish) is better than splashing out on a coach.
If you are interested I will be taking names and cheques at the July 21st meeting or you can email [email protected] asking for your name to be put down and then send a cheque made out to Stansted Mountfitchet U3A Social Account to:
